The Constitutional Court has sustained the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye in a momentous ruling. The said decision will finally stop the long-lasting political chaos and social strife caused by the extensive corruption scandal linking Park and her longtime friend Choi Soon-sil.

The historic court ruling has made President Park Geun-hye South Korea's first democratically elected president to be removed from office through impeachment. The verdict has also exposed Park to prosecution and other legal actions will be set against her.

The ex-President has sternly defended herself in a January interview on the YouTube channel Jeong Kyu-jae TV. She called the accusations against her colossal and preposterous lies according to the Korea Times.

Politicians and legal representatives loyal to Park have thrown a strong indication that they won’t acknowledge the outcome if the Constitutional Court upholds the impeachment. President Park Geun-hye’s attorneys have continually questioned the equality of the Constitutional Court measures, claiming the court justices are taking sides with the Assembly.
