Gyeonggi province, South Korea’s most densely inhabited region, came up with a plan on Monday to support consumers of electric vehicles.
Starting from June 13, those who buy EVs in the province will obtain financial support on a first arrival basis. There will also be a prerequisite for construction in the region to create parking lots that are equipped with EV battery charging stations.
According to the Korea Herald, the 664 customers who are first in line to purchase electric vehicles this year will be given 19 million won ($16,500). An additional 2 million won will be granted to people who substitute a diesel car registered before 2006 with an electric version.
Newly constructed parking lots that can have space for 100 to 299 vehicles are required to have at least one charging station. Three stations should be set up in parking lots that can accept more than 500 cars.
