HONG KONG – Due to a dispute regarding a bill in a Japanese restaurant in Mong Kok, a man and a woman was arrested after fighting each other.

The incident sparked an online discussion about the act of "Going Dutch" (paying for yourself) which is commonly known as “AA” by Hong Kong locals.

On Sunday night, the man and woman went to have dinner at a yakiniku restaurant in King Wah Centre on Nathan Road.

According to the South China Morning Post, witnesses stated that at 11:25pm the two broke into an argument when the man suggested splitting the bill amounting to HK$2,200.

The restaurant staff said that the woman refused to pay for her half of the bill and then the quarrel turned physical.

The police was later called and the man was arrested for assault. The woman was also arrested with the same charge.
