SINGAPORE – A wild boar suddenly attacked a 44-year-old man in the morning of Thursday (Oct 19), outside the Hillview Avenue condominium.
The victim was on his way towards the Hillview MRT station when the animal suddenly charged at him. He sustained lacerations and severe cuts on both legs.
Afterwards, the wild boar was hit by a bus and was killed as it tried to run.
A spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force said that the incident took place at around 8:43 am and the man was later taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Attacks of wild animals in Singapore are very uncommon but wild boar sightings are increasing.
The last wild boar attack happened at Windsor Nature Park last June 30, where a woman was injured in the leg while walking her dog. The victim later received 60 stitches on her wound.
Five people were also taken to the hospital last month due to road accidents involving wild boars.
Citizens were advised to stay calm when they see wild animals and should try their best not to provoke them into attacking.
A safe distance should be maintained at all times and taking pictures are forbidden since it might enrage the animal due to the flash of lights.
