HONG KONG - The Filipino domestic helpers who can’t go back to the Philippines due to the booking mistake at the Peya Travel agency will now get a free flight home.
The Philippine government would shoulder the cost of the plane ticket, and the offer is available to every domestic helper that won’t make it back in time for Christmas.
According to Danny Lee from the South China Morning Post, Filipino helpers can avail of the free flights starting Friday afternoon. All they have to do is register at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration offices at the Mass Mutual Tower in Wan Chai.
The Philippine government would also pay the fare for the return flights with unlimited dates, but it also depends on the availability of seats at Philippine Airlines.
The Philippine consulate mentioned that Filipinos who are interested in registering for the free flights must provide the necessary documentation. These include a copy of their working visa, passport, overseas employment certificate and a copy of their Peya Travel booking ticket.
