SEOUL - Starbucks has recently opened its largest branch in South Korea, which has the goal to give more to customers than just coffee. The previous title holder of the biggest Starbucks store was located at Gangdong, which is called the Cheonho Rodeo Branch.
The new Starbucks store is located at the Jongno Tower in one of the earliest districts in Seoul named Jongno-gu. The district is famous as a tourist spot because of its traditional attractions, like the Dongmyo Flea Market and the Jogyesa Buddhist temple.
Kim Hee-kyung, the Managing director of Starbucks Korea, mentioned that the interior of the new Jongno branch is designed to showcase the combination of traditional Korea and the global Starbucks brand.
Customers can also marvel at the beautiful 6.8-meter long artwork featured at the store’s entrance. It was made using traditional Korean fabric, designed specifically to mimic the Siren logo of Starbucks. The logo is also adorned with the symbolic flower of Korea, called the Rose of Sharon.
Another artwork, called “Colors of Cherry,” can be seen on the new store’s second floor, with a focus on nature and harmony. The design of the art piece is inspired by the Korean traditional clothing called Hanbok.
